Ganapati Stotra – Meaning in English with Sanskrit Lyrics (Verse by Verse)
Pranamya shirasa devam Gauri vinayakam ।
Bhaktavasam smare nityam ayuh kamartha siddhaye ॥1॥
The one seeking longevity, wealth, and the fulfillment of desires should bow their head each day in reverence to Lord Ganapati, the son of Goddess Gauri, and remember him with devotion.
Prathamam vakratundam cha ekadantam dvitiyakam ।
Tritiyam krishnapingaksham, gajavaktram chaturthakam ॥2॥
Among the twelve sacred names of Lord Ganesha, the first four are — Vakratunda (with a curved trunk), Ekadanta (with a single tusk), Krishnapingaksha (with reddish-brown eyes), and Gajavaktra (with an elephant's face).
Lambodaram panchamam cha shashtam Vikatameva cha ।
Saptamam Vighnarajendram, Dhoomravarnam tathaashtamam ॥3॥
The next four names are — Lambodara (with a large belly), Vikata, Vighnarajendra (lord of all obstacles), and Dhoomravarna (of a smoke-grey hue).
Navamam Bhalachandram cha dashamam tu Vinayakam ।
Ekadasham ganapatim, dvadasham tu gajananam ॥4॥
The remaining four names are — Bhalachandra (bearing the crescent moon on his forehead), Vinayaka, Ganapati, and Gajanana. With these, the twelve names of Lord Ganesha are complete.
Dvadashaitani namani trisandhyam yah pathen naraha ।
Na cha vighna bhayam tasya sarvasiddhi karam prabho ॥5॥
Whoever recites these twelve names with devotion at dawn, noon, and dusk shall never fear obstacles. O Lord, this stotra grants success in all endeavors.
Vidyarthi labhate vidyam, dhanarthi labhate dhanam ।
Putrarthi labhate putran, moksharthi labhate gatim ॥6॥
The seeker of knowledge attains knowledge, the seeker of wealth attains wealth, the seeker of offspring is blessed with children, and the seeker of liberation attains liberation.
Japed Ganapati Stotram shadbhir masaihi phalam labhet ।
Samvatsaren Siddhim cha labhate natra sanshayah ॥7॥
One who chants this Ganapati Stotra with devotion for six continuous months attains auspicious results, and if chanted for a full year, success is certain — there is no doubt about this.
Ashtabhyo brahmanebhyashcha likhitva yah samarpayet ।
Tasya vidya bhavet sarva ganeshasya prasadatah ॥8॥
Whoever writes down this stotra and devotedly offers it to eight learned Brahmins attains all forms of knowledge by the grace of Lord Ganesha.
