ganesh story- ganesha and mango

The story of Lord Ganesha and the mango is a well-known story from Hindu mythology that highlights Lord Ganesha’s wit and wisdom. According to the story, Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati had two sons – Lord Ganesha and Lord Kartikeya.

One day, Lord Shiva and Parvati decided to organize a contest between their two sons to determine who was the smarter of the two. They placed a ripe mango in front of their sons and announced that whoever could circumnavigate the world three times and return first would win the mango.

ganesh and mango storyLord Kartikeya, being the god of war and the commander of the army of the gods, immediately set off on his peacock to travel around the world. On the other hand, Lord Ganesha, who was known for his wisdom and intelligence, took a different approach.

Instead of traveling around the world, Lord Ganesha simply walked around his parents three times and claimed the mango. When Lord Kartikeya returned, he was furious to find that Lord Ganesha had already won the contest.

Lord Kartikeya protested, saying that he had circumnavigated the world, which was a much harder task than simply walking around their parents. Lord Ganesha responded by saying that he had only followed his parents’ instructions, which were to circumnavigate the world three times and return first.

Lord Shiva and Parvati were very impressed by Lord Ganesha’s wit and wisdom and declared him the winner of the contest. The story of Lord Ganesha and the mango is often cited as an example of Lord Ganesha’s intelligence, as well as his ability to think outside the box and find creative solutions to problems.

It also teaches us that sometimes the most direct and simple approach is the most effective, and that wisdom and intelligence can sometimes be more valuable than brute strength or physical prowess.
